The Michigan Sikh Studies Forum will be holding its first seminar for the 2008-2009 school year. MSSF is proud to host the renowned Sikh musicologist Bhai Baldeep Singh (more information below) who will be making a presentation entitled "The Musical Tradition of the Sikhs". Bhai Baldeep Singh is a 13th generation Sikh kirtan exponent (vocalist, percussionist, string player) and is also committed to the documentation and preservation of the Sikh musical heritage. In addition to hearing Bhai Baldeep Singh speak, the audience will be able to view his latest documentary film Sacred Music of the Sikhs which will be followed by question-and-answer session. The details are as follows: Musical Tradition of the Sikhs Saturday, Sept. 27th , 4pm School of Social Work Building Room 1636 (located at the corner of South University and East University) Bhai Baldeep Singh's lecture is being coordinated in conjunction with the Sikh Foundation based at Gurdwara Sahib (Hidden Falls, Plymouth). Parking options include metered street parking and public parking lots.
