Abhinav Bindra is not a

Abhinav Bindra is not a Sikh. Many Gursikhs if given a fair chance of training can do much better than him. Because shooting is associated with battle & battle is best known by army of Akaal Purakh i.e. Khalsa. "Khalsa Akaal Purakh ki Fauj, Pargatio Khalsa Parmatam Ki Mauj". Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

Bindra

If this man is a 5th generation relative of great Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa, then I think he should give a reason why he is clean shaven especially when he lives in Punjab. His gold does´nt at all impress on me.

Interesting fact...

He is a fifth generation relative of Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa (from his mothers side). http://specials.rediff.com/sports/2008/aug/13sd1.htm

TITLE

The very title "The Sikhs That Shoot"appears to be injurious to the Principles Of Sikhi. No doubt Abhinav Bindra has been a cause of prestige to the nation but labelling him as a Sikh sounds as if Sikh bodies have self interest in earning fake name. But , then ,is it not the duty of the "Sikhnet News"to take care & see that if the title is not in conformity with very appearance of the contents , it should not be given a clean chit to be on the internet?

Are we that desperate for false recognition....

Abhinav is innocent; it’s his parents who should be rejected from Sikh society for misrepresenting Sikhism. These are Hindu-Sikhs who are fascinated by Bollywood and would like to be recognized for Abhivan’s success. If and when he comes to Gurudwara, he should officially declare himself SIKH by being initiated with the title "SINGH" and that will be his greatest Gold medal, because it is that medal which will take him back to Sachkhand... He will be doing the greatest service to Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This will inspire tens of thousands of mislead and misguided sons like Abhinav Bindra (the spiritual name for a tulsie plant is BINDRA it is the most spiritual plant on planet earth.) He should be given the name Abhinav Bindra Singh Khalsa.. and wear his turban with Pride . . He would be doing the greatest service for this religion and the world will truly recognize him as “Singh is King” Sikhs should always remember that 1984 massacre of Sikhs resulted in many Sikhs cutting their hair to conceal their identity. But they kept Wahaguru Ji deep in their hearts. And it is because of chanting his name he was recognized by the world, but his real gold is to be recognized in the court of Wahaguru.

Golden Boy Dear Mr Abhinav BINDRA

I congatulate S Gurcharan Singh ji for writing blunt message and a lesson to our so called Jathedars to honour a Clean shaven gentleman for the achievements. SGPC has declared Rs 2 Lac prize for Abhinav 'for what ' is to propogate that Sikhs are broad minded and honour to the person who weaken the community whatever S Gurcharn Singh Ji has written. Though there is a great honour for Indians when 1st Gold Medal is credited to the India, but feel ashamed that from our community our Jathedars and Pracharks could not built the youths we should proud to be a sikh, instead they feel insulted even to mention Sikh with their names. Look into our Prime Minsiter S Manmohan Singh's family. His daughters are married to the Hindus and almost their life style has been changed. We celeberate with pump and show that a sikh is a PM of India, I also feel honured, but where our next generation is going. Our PM' s next generation will be all Hindus and where will be our future Pride. I take this opportunity to apprise our so called Panth Thekedars that instead of fighting and creating groups among our selves, devote time to spread the message of our Great Gurus and control the youths from becoming Patit Sikhs instead of Gursikh. I suggest that old Jathedard should vacate their offices and let the youth come forward to take forward our Great Virsa Guru Rakha

"Abhinav Bindra" doesnot desirve credit of being called SIKH !!

I would request all to strongly oppose any false promotion of "Abhinav Bindra" as SIKH. He has never referred himself as Sikh in any of this official documents... and nor does he follow Sikhism... Then why are we trying to portray him as SIKH. Is our Sikh community so weak and incapable in the field of sports that now we have to take shadow of youths like Abhinav Bindra to represent our community. When he doesn’t consider himself as SIKH then why are we guys running behind him and jumping and making a big fuss of him winning a Gold medal in Olympics.... This is extremely shameful for those who are incharge of posting articles on SIKHNET.COM and other Sikh websites that they are using an image of Clean SHAVED, Trim Haired, youth who is no close to any Sikh identity is being presented as most superior and handsome SIKH !!.... More over if anyone has any objections then, I would just say.. in his name do anyone find the basic title of SINGH. If he was even 1% close to being a SIKH his name should be "Abhinav Singh Bindra" but he feels so ashamed of being called SIKH that he has even removed the basic title of SINGH from his Name so that no one consider him as SIKH and you guys are dancing and promoting him as most honorable SIKH YOUTH !!>>>>>> It’s very shamefully and disgusting!! You are jst making a joke of yourself........ Its like someone has already played with your pride and dignity by doing all that which is consider most sinful act as per our religion and now u guys r runing being him... Giving him Honour and Credit. Jst because he won gold medal.... What are we teaching our childerns by doing this........ !! Just think about it~

Abjinav Bindra

I agree with you Gurcharan Singh. 100%. What signal is SGPC sending to the Sikh youngsters? That it is OK to be a clean shaven Sikh these days. Shame on you SGPC.
